PANews reported on November 13 that according to CoinDesk, on Monday, the strong rise of Bitcoin pushed the value of BTC in El Salvador to more than $500 million, while the BTC holdings of the small country of Bhutan also exceeded $1 billion. Data from the Bitcoin Office of El Salvador showed that the country's Bitcoin reserves were slightly less than 5,932. As of press time, the price of Bitcoin was $87,000, worth about $516 million.
According to Arkham Intelligence, Bhutan, with a population of only 800,000 (compared to El Salvador’s 6.4 million), holds 12,574 Bitcoins, worth $1.1 billion at current prices. In other words, Bhutan’s Bitcoin holdings are worth more than a third of the country’s GDP (just under $3 billion). El Salvador’s $500 million in Bitcoins is just 1.5% of its GDP. In September, Arkham reported that Bhutan is likely to become the fourth largest Bitcoin holder.
