PANews reported on November 26 that according to Yonhap News Agency Infomax, the South Korean National Assembly Strategy and Finance Committee decided not to hold the plenary meeting originally scheduled for November 26. This decision is significant because the committee was originally scheduled to discuss the crypto tax agenda. Previously, on November 25, the tax subcommittee postponed the crypto tax discussion due to a mess.
A committee official explained that the plenary session was canceled due to disagreements between political parties. The main opposition Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) favored the implementation of the planned crypto tax, while the ruling People’s Power Party pushed for its postponement by two years. The official also mentioned that other outstanding issues such as inheritance tax were also part of the decision to cancel the meeting.
