PANews reported on December 18 that according to Cryptoslate, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson called on the Cardano Foundation to move to a jurisdiction that allows users to elect board members. He raised this question in a post on the social media platform X on December 18, while encouraging the Cardano community to ask the foundation about its board structure and decision-making process.
The Cardano founder expressed concerns about the current arrangement, which sees the Swiss government appointing board members without input from the community. He also urged the community to question individuals involved in the foundation’s past decisions and its relationship with Intersect. With this in mind, Hoskinson criticized the foundation for staying in Switzerland instead of relocating to a region like Abu Dhabi or Wyoming that supports a more inclusive governance model. According to Hoskinson, the move will allow the community to work with the foundation to build a new structure that promotes transparency and member engagement.
The Cardano Foundation, founded in 2016, operates under Swiss law, which does not allow for community-based board elections. Meanwhile, Hoskinson’s latest comments come as the organization continues to face criticism over governance issues, internal conflict, and the marginalization of major donors.
