PANews reported on November 26 that according to Cointelegraph, Bitcoin financial services company Swan Bitcoin has filed a lawsuit against Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, the law firm it is still cooperating with, because the law firm hired a lawyer representing stablecoin issuer and rival cryptocurrency company Tether.

On November 22, Swan formally sued Gibson in the California Superior Court, accusing him of violations in the practice of law. Swan claimed that Gibson had "actively sought and successfully gained Swan's trust" and promised to represent Swan against "former partner turned competitor" Tether, but then Gibson "accepted Tether as a new client and informed Swan that he would no longer provide services to it." Swan also revealed that one of Gibson's lawyers had called the company's CEO Cory Klippsten and warned that there might be a conflict of interest due to the law firm's decision to hire Barry Berke, a lawyer representing Tether, and that Swan needed to find another legal representative.

Previously, while Gibson was Swan’s legal counsel, Swan sued a group of former employees, accusing them of stealing software code to set up a cryptocurrency mining company called Proton Management.
