PANews reported on December 24 that according to The Block, pro-cryptocurrency Senator-elect Bernie Moreno has been designated as a member of the Senate Banking Committee by John Thune, who is about to become the Republican Senate Majority Leader. The committee may play a vital role in the launch of cryptocurrency-related bills in the new year. It is responsible for supervising two key agencies: the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Other pro-cryptocurrency lawmakers, including Senator Cynthia Lummis, have also been designated to continue to serve on the committee. According to Thune's statement on Friday, the entire Senate is expected to confirm these appointments early in the next Congress. In addition, Moreno has been designated as a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, the Senate Budget Committee, and the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee.
Moreno, co-founder of ChampTitles, a company that uses blockchain technology to issue proof of car ownership, has made numerous statements on cryptocurrency, promising in a June interview with Fox Business that he would “lead the fight to defend cryptocurrency in the United States Senate.”
