PANews reported on November 5 that OpenAI is in preliminary discussions with regulators to try to transform the non-profit structure of the $157 billion company into a for-profit enterprise. According to two people familiar with the matter, the company is in preliminary negotiations with the California Attorney General's Office on the procedures for changing the company's structure. In the process, regulators may carefully review how OpenAI evaluates a series of highly profitable intellectual property rights, such as its ChatGPT.
