PANews reported on December 3rd that according to Cointelegraph, the memecoin project DOGS based on The Open Network (TON) announced that it would donate more than 6 billion tokens (about 4.5 million US dollars) to non-profit organizations around the world. The charity portal launched in late November allows non-profit organizations to apply for funds, and DOGS promises to use unclaimed airdropped tokens for charity.
The plan includes a $150,000 partnership with Best Friends Animal Society, an American animal welfare nonprofit, to provide one month of care funding for adopted dogs. DOGS founder Andrew called on the crypto community to work together to promote the goal of achieving 90% of "no-kill" shelters by 2025.
The DOGS project is inspired by the iconic dog image of Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov. Its token airdrop covers 17 million users and aims to increase cryptocurrency awareness and promote animal welfare. DOGS mascot "Spotty" will also become the spokesperson for the charity event.
