PANews reported on November 7 that according to Eleanor Terrett, Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal said that it is expected that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)'s cryptocurrency cases will see "significant changes" under the leadership of Trump's newly appointed SEC chairman. Grewal pointed out that the new government may re-examine existing cryptocurrency cases and distinguish between obvious fraud cases and other non-fraud cases.

Although Grewal did not explicitly state that cases against Coinbase and others for alleged securities violations would be dropped, he expressed optimism that the new leadership’s more transparent rules and reassessments would lead to more reasonable scrutiny.
