PANews reported on December 26 that according to the Bangkok Post, Thailand is considering a Bitcoin pilot project proposed by former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, which will be tested in Phuket as a sandbox focused on tourism. The proposal was supported by Binance Thailand's CEO, who believes it is a positive step for the country's competitiveness and ability to attract tourists. However, despite the efforts of industry advocates and some political supporters to turn Thailand into a digital center, the Bank of Thailand still prohibits crypto payments.
