PANews reported on January 5 that according to Cointelegraph, former US prosecutor and cryptocurrency advocate John Deaton suggested that the incoming Trump administration launch an investigation into "Operation Chokepoint 2.0" - an unconfirmed initiative allegedly aimed at cutting cryptocurrency companies out of the traditional banking system.

“If these actions go unchallenged, they set a dangerous precedent where regulators can quietly suppress entire industries they don’t like, stifling innovation, competition, and economic opportunity,” John Deaton said in a post to Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, as well as Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. “This is not only a fight for cryptocurrency, but also a fight against the erosion of institutional integrity and the unchecked power of unelected bureaucrats.”
