PANews reported on November 6 that the New York Times predicted that there may be five major changes in the direction of American politics after Trump returns to power.

1. Strengthen presidential power: After returning to the White House, Trump is likely to change the balance of power by increasing presidential power in federal government departments that operate independently of the White House and by placing more of his own people.

2. Attack political opponents: Trump is likely to "use presidential power to retaliate against his political enemies", and the first to bear the brunt are the current President Biden and his family. Previously, Trump said that if he was re-elected, he would appoint a special prosecutor to "track down" Biden and his family.

3. Strictly control immigration: For Trump, cracking down on illegal immigration has always been one of his core policies. Trump's chief immigration adviser Stephen Miller said that Trump's second administration will deport illegal immigrants on a large scale and it is expected that more than 1 million people will be deported from the United States every year.

4. Large-scale taxation: Trump plans to impose new tariffs on most imported goods, with the new import tax rate generally reaching 10%. The New York Times pointed out that the consequence of doing so will not only increase domestic prices in the United States, but may also trigger a global trade war and damage the interests of American exporters.

5. Alienating European allies: After Trump takes office, he is likely to alienate Europe’s traditional allies, weaken NATO, and even directly lead the United States to withdraw from NATO.
