PANews reported on October 30 that according to the official announcement, Chainlink announced the launch of the CCIP v1.5 upgrade, which is now available on all supported blockchain testnets and will soon be launched on the blockchain mainnet. CCIP v1.5 introduces the cross-chain token (CCT) standard, enabling token developers to integrate new and existing tokens with CCIP in a self-service manner within minutes. CCT is a cross-chain native token protected by CCIP. CCT supports self-service deployment, full control and ownership of developers, enhanced programmability, and zero-slippage transmission-all supported by CCIP's industry-standard defense-in-depth security. It is worth noting that CCT is independent of token logic, which means that token developers can deploy pre-audited token pool contracts, turn any ERC20-compatible token into CCT, or deploy their own custom token pool contracts for custom token use cases. CCT does not require token developers to inherit any CCIP-specific code in the smart contract of their tokens.
Additionally, CCIP v1.5 introduces a new token developer proof feature that enables token developers to participate in an optional layer of validation for their CCTs by proving token burn or lock events on the source chain before the CCIP is able to mint or unlock tokens on the target chain. This feature has been popularly requested by developers of tokenized assets to support their security models and meet their compliance needs. The token developer proof feature is currently available in private beta.
