PANews reported on November 7 that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman released the "chat.com" domain name, which points to "https://chatgpt.com/".
It is reported that HubSpot co-founder and CTO Dharmesh Shah announced earlier this morning that the mysterious buyer of the domain chat.com, which he purchased for more than $15 million, has finally been revealed: OpenAI. Previously, Dharmesh revealed in a tweet that he had sold the domain to an undisclosed buyer, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman briefly confirmed on November 7 that the buyer was indeed OpenAI, and now visiting the website will directly jump to the ChatGPT page.
According to known information, Dharmesh decided to transfer chat.com out of his high recognition of OpenAI, and because of his long-term friendship with Altman, it is very likely that the transaction was made at a relatively friendly price. It is speculated that the total price of the domain name is between 15 million and 20 million US dollars, of which about 50%-75% may be paid in the form of OpenAI equity, which is in line with Dharmesh's long-standing desire to become an OpenAI shareholder.
