People familiar with the matter said that Atkins is one of the strongest contenders to replace the outgoing SEC Chairman Gary Gensler. Trump is expected to make a choice in the next few days, but has not yet made a decision.
According to previous news , Atkins is not only proficient in cryptocurrency technology, but also has a deep understanding of the internal operations of the SEC. He has served as a commissioner and staff member for two SEC chairmen, Richard C. Breeden and Arthur Levitt.
