PANews reported on March 14 that according to Jinshi, Jordan, chairman of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, asked Apple (AAPL.O), Microsoft (MSFT.O) and more than a dozen other technology companies to provide information about their work in artificial intelligence and whether they conspired with the Biden administration to censor free speech. In a letter to executives of these companies on Thursday, Jordan said that the committee is drafting legislation to protect Americans' civil liberties from infringement in the advancement of artificial intelligence technology, and lawmakers need to "fully understand" what he called "the nature and extent of the review work" under President Biden. "Therefore, we write to request documents and information about the nature and extent of your company's interaction with the executive branch regarding content review of artificial intelligence models," Jordan said in a letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook. This statement was echoed in letters sent to other executives. Jordan's move marks an escalation of his actions against previous administrations and foreign governments to restrict the speech of right-wing figures and groups.
