PANews reported on November 12 that according to Decrypt, if retired NFL Carolina Panthers player Russell Okung had held the 240 bitcoins he bought with half of his salary in 2020 until today, his assets would exceed US$20.9 million.

In December 2020, Okung announced that he would receive half of his $13 million salary (about $6.5 million) in the form of Bitcoin. In May 2021, Okung pledged not to sell his Bitcoin in the event of a crypto market decline, but he has not publicly disclosed any changes to his Bitcoin investment strategy since then.
