PANews reported on November 29 that according to Cointelegraph, the parliament of the Swiss Canton of Bern has passed a motion to commission a report on Bitcoin mining. The canton’s government committee (i.e., executive body) has expressed opposition to the report and Bitcoin mining, but supporters see it as a victory.
The report, presented by the 23-member multi-party Bitcoin Parliamentary Group and passed by a vote of 85 to 46, will explore ways to access excess energy in the state, potential collaboration with Swiss bitcoin mining operations, and the potential for bitcoin mining to add stability to the grid.
