PANews reported on January 10 that according to Taiwan media reports, a 30-year-old man in Kaohsiung was caught by the police for illegally engaging in Tether (USDT) transactions. This is the first case after the implementation of the new "Anti-Money Laundering Act" Virtual Asset Service Industry (VASP) registration system. The police found out that the man found buyers through social platforms and completed more than 100 transactions in just one month, selling 400,000 Tether coins and making a profit of about 800,000 yuan.

At the same time, the police also seized an illegal currency trading studio in Taipei City, involving more than 200 million yuan and illegal profits of 20 million yuan. The police reminded that individual currency traders and studios that have not registered in accordance with regulations are illegal and may be sentenced to less than 2 years in prison and a fine of 5 million New Taiwan dollars.
