PANews reported on January 30 that Alibaba urgently launched an upgraded AI model Qwen 2.5-Max during the Spring Festival to cope with the rapidly changing industry competition. The company claimed that the model "almost completely surpassed" ChatGPT, DeepSeek and Meta's Llama in performance.

According to Alibaba's tests, Qwen 2.5-Max achieved a high score of 89.4 in the Arena-Hard benchmark test, and outperformed DeepSeek in the MMLU-Pro college-level problem-solving ability test and was comparable to ChatGPT. Alibaba developers said on GitHub that the new model is expected to surpass human intelligence and explore unknown areas.

Former US President Trump said that the strong performance of China's AI models should serve as a "wake-up call" for Silicon Valley, but he also believed that the rise of DeepSeek was an opportunity to reduce costs.
