PANews reported on March 13 that according to the announcement of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Cboe BZX Exchange submitted a rule change proposal on March 11, 2025 to allow Fidelity Ethereum Fund to pledge Ethereum (ETH). The SEC has officially accepted the application and is publicly soliciting opinions.

This application modifies the original provisions of the ETF, allowing the fund to use the ETH it holds for staking in the Ethereum Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism to earn additional income. The proposal is currently under review, and the SEC will make an approval or rejection decision within a minimum of 45 days and a maximum of 90 days. If approved, the Fidelity Ethereum ETF will become the first U.S.-listed ETF to support Ethereum staking.
