PANews reported on February 5 that according to Bloomberg, several US unions have submitted emergency applications to the court, requesting to prevent the Treasury Department from providing the personal and financial data of American citizens to Musk's "Government Efficiency Department" DOGE, and requiring the Treasury Department and its head Scott Bessent to recover and protect the information that has been obtained by DOGE.
The lawsuit accuses the Treasury Department of illegally sharing member data with DOGE and asks the court to issue a temporary injunction before a final ruling. Previously, it was reported that the Treasury Department had provided the DOGE team with access to the federal payment system containing sensitive taxpayer, employee and company information after a senior official resigned.
The Ministry of Finance responded that the DOGE team only obtained "read-only access" permissions and did not affect the normal operation of the government payment system. However, the union believes that if no measures are taken, the privacy rights of its members will continue to be violated and will be irreversible.
