PANews reported on November 7 that the Ethereum Foundation announced the launch of the first short-term Pectra testnet, Mekong. The testnet integrates all EIP proposals that will be applied to the Ethereum Pectra fork, including EIP-7702's user experience (UX) improvements, EIP-7251's staking mechanism adjustments, and EIP-6110 and EIP-7002's deposit and withdrawal mechanism changes. The Mekong testnet will serve as an experimental platform for wallet developers and stakers to help them familiarize themselves with and verify the upcoming protocol updates. Mekong will become an important testing ground before the existing public test network and the Ethereum mainnet are upgraded. The testnet is valid for a short period of time and is planned to be further promoted at the Devcon event held in Southeast Asia before going online.
