PANews reported on March 22 that according to the official website of Lloyds Auctions, the official code domain name "XBT.com" of the Bitcoin International Standards Organization ISO has started auctioning. The auction will end on March 28 with a starting price of US$2,798,917. Lee Hames, chief operating officer of the auction house, speculated that Musk, Bezos, and even Trump may participate in the bidding.
“XBT” is the ISO 4217 currency code for Bitcoin, which was introduced around 2013, similar to gold (XAU) and silver (XAG). Exchanges such as Kraken and BitMEX still use XBT for certain URLs and API endpoints, but switched to BTC during Bitcoin’s last halving cycle.
