PANews reported on November 8 that according to Reuters, former US President Trump's transition team is considering nominating Robinhood's chief legal officer Dan Gallagher as chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) . Gallagher is a former Republican SEC commissioner and is currently seen as a popular candidate for the position. In addition, former SEC commissioner and Patomak Global Partners CEO Paul Atkins and former Trump administration SEC general counsel Robert Stebbins are also on the candidate list.
Hester Peirce, the current SEC commissioner who is popular in the cryptocurrency industry, has made it clear that she has no intention of running for the position despite industry support, while current SEC Chairman Gary Gensler has said that he will step down early if a new Republican administration takes office.
