PANews reported on April 24 that according to Bitcoin.com, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior issued a statement on April 22, declaring cryptocurrency mining an illegal activity, saying that it violates many laws of the country and puts pressure on the power infrastructure. The ban involves laws such as the Criminal Law Amendment No. 31 of 1970, the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Law No. 37 of 2014, the Industrial Law No. 56 of 1996, and the Municipal Regulation No. 33 of 2016.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior pointed out that unauthorized cryptocurrency mining leads to "excessive consumption of electricity and energy, increases the load on the public power grid", causes power outages in residential, commercial and industrial areas, and affects the supply of basic services. The warning was jointly issued by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the General Authority of Communications and Information Technology, the General Authority of Industry and the Municipal Department. The authorities require the relevant mining entities to "immediately rectify" and emphasize that legal measures will be taken against violators, including transfer to the investigation department for handling.
