PANews reported on February 9 that according to citynews, the University of Waterloo in Canada announced that it had received a $1 million (1.4 million CAD) grant from Interop Labs. This funding will help increase its research funds and establish a new artificial intelligence and blockchain research laboratory in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science. The new laboratory will be called "GENESIS Lab", which will provide 12 doctoral and 6 undergraduate scholarships through the student-run organization Waterloo Blockchain.
