New York, October 28, 2024 – Ahead of the fourth annual Art Blocks Marfa Weekend, November 14-17, 2024, OpenSea is excited to announce a partnership with Art Blocks, the renowned generative art platform.
As part of the collaboration, artists will be able to use new custom Art Blocks Engine contracts when publishing their works on OpenSea, and the two companies will also collaborate on product development roadmaps, jointly demo new features, and iterate on other platform upgrades.
“We are honored to partner with Art Blocks to support creative talent innovating in the digital art space,” said Devin Finzer, CEO of OpenSea.
Through this collaboration, Art Blocks and OpenSea have also created the Art Blocks x OpenSea Artist Residency Program, which will support creative artists by providing them with the opportunity to practice their craft in Marfa, the epicenter of Texas’ creative community, and draw inspiration from the West Texas desert landscape.
Going forward, OpenSea will sponsor live events that bring together the industry’s top artists to showcase their work and build community, starting with Art Blocks Marfa Weekend next month.
The residency program is designed to support artists in their pursuit of their creative work by placing them in the midst of inspiring cultural and artistic influences, surrounded by artists and creators, and during the residency, participating artists will receive housing, a stipend, an Arts Block studio contract, and a quiet environment to focus on creating their artwork while being surrounded by Marfa’s engaging and supportive environment and community.
“As a participant in this ecosystem, our landscape continues to evolve, and we evolve with it, exploring how to best serve our community of artists and collectors,” said Art Blocks CEO Erick Calderon. “We are grateful for the opportunity to provide artists with more tools and space to continue to push boundaries and expand the exposure that generative mediums deserve.”
With recent wildly successful games like Bokeh by Michael Kozlowski (mpkoz), Art Blocks continues to build strong momentum for future game releases, marking the return of a curated selection of Art Blocks games to be released quickly, and the partnership with OpenSea will further build on that momentum, providing artists with new opportunities to innovate and reach new audiences.
“Collaboration between artists and NFT platforms is critical to the success of both industries, and we are excited to be working with OpenSea to further build on this long-standing relationship,” said Hugh Heslep, President and COO of Art Blocks.
More details about the Art Blocks x OpenSea Artist Residency Program will be announced in November.
