PANews reported on April 4 that according to Xinhua News Agency, Moon Hyung-bae, acting president of the Constitutional Court of South Korea, read out the impeachment verdict. The eight judges of the Constitutional Court unanimously agreed to remove Yoon Seok-yeol. Yoon Seok-yeol became the second president to be removed from office after Park Geun-hye in the constitutional history of South Korea, and South Korea must hold a new general election within 60 days. Yoon Seok-yeol did not attend the sentencing. The sentencing process was broadcast live to the public.
