PANews reported on January 30 that according to the DFINITY announcement, the Solenoid upgrade has been officially completed and the ICP edge infrastructure has been fully decentralized. Previously, the boundary nodes were operated by the DFINITY Foundation, but under the new architecture, the boundary nodes are split into API boundary nodes and HTTP gateways, which are responsible for request routing and HTTP request conversion, respectively, thereby improving network security, scalability and decentralization.
Currently, ICP has deployed 20 API border nodes to form its public network edge, while DFINITY is still operating multiple HTTP gateways to ensure a smooth transition of the system. Developers can directly connect to API border nodes through the Discovery Library, bypassing the HTTP gateway and taking full advantage of the new architecture.
