PANews reported on April 4 that Illinois plans to withdraw its pledge-related lawsuit against Coinbase, becoming the fourth U.S. state to withdraw the lawsuit after Kentucky, Vermont and South Carolina.

Currently, Alabama, California, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington and Wisconsin are still continuing to file pledge-related lawsuits against Coinbase. Among them, representatives of New Jersey and Washington confirmed that the case is still ongoing, while California, Maryland and Wisconsin declined to comment. Alabama has not yet responded to media requests for comment.

Previously, these states accused Coinbase of violating state securities laws through its staking program. In 2023, a total of 10 states in the United States filed similar charges against Coinbase. In addition, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also sued Coinbase for allegedly violating federal securities laws, but withdrew the case in February this year.

Earlier news, Kentucky joined South Carolina and Vermont to withdraw the lawsuit against Coinbase .
