PANews reported on April 11 that the State Council Tariff Commission announced that starting from April 12, 2025, the tariff rate on imported goods originating from the United States will be increased from 84% to 125%. This adjustment is based on relevant Chinese laws and regulations and basic principles of international law and has been approved by the State Council.

The committee pointed out that even if the US continues to impose tariffs, it will no longer make economic sense and will become a joke in the history of the world economy. At the current tariff level, there is no market acceptance for US goods exported to China. If the US continues to play the tariff numbers game, China will ignore it. However, if the US insists on substantially infringing on China's interests, China will resolutely counterattack and fight to the end. Other related matters will continue to be implemented in accordance with previous announcements.
