PANews reported on April 7 that according to TechCrunch, although India has become one of the fastest growing markets for ChatGPT, OpenAI still faces challenges in monetization there. Data shows that Indian users have only spent about $8 million through in-app purchases since 2023, far less than the $330 million spent by US users. High subscription fees ($20/month) and lack of local pricing are considered the main reasons. OpenAI is seeking to work with Indian telecom giant Jio to expand coverage to achieve its vision of "billions of users."
