US Defense Secretary: US-Iran negotiations are ongoing; option to use force remains.

PANews reported on May 31 that, according to CCTV News, US Defense Secretary Hergsays stated at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore on May 30 local time that the US strives for an agreement in US-Iran negotiations, but if the negotiations fail, the US is prepared to resume military strikes. The previous day, US President Trump held a meeting in the White House Situation Room regarding the situation in Iran, but did not make a "final decision" on any related agreement.

In February of this year, the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran. Subsequently, the United States blocked Iranian ports, and Iran also imposed special controls on navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The conflict has caused a large number of casualties and a rise in global energy prices.
