Sam Altman: There is a clear generational divide in the use of ChatGPT, with young people viewing it as a life decision-making system.

PANews reported on May 10th, citing Fortune, that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman shared his insights at the Sequoia Capital AI Summit, revealing significant generational differences in how users of ChatGPT utilize it. He stated that older users primarily use ChatGPT as a Google search engine alternative, those in their twenties and thirties use it as a life consultant, while university students use it extensively as their daily operating system.

More than one-third of young Americans aged 18 to 24 frequently use ChatGPT, leveraging its conversation memory function for emotional advice, workplace negotiations, medical consultations, and even major life decisions. Sequoia Capital invested in OpenAI in its first round of funding in 2021, valuing it at $140 billion at the time. After a large private equity round, its current valuation has reached $852 billion.
