PANews reported on May 7th that, according to The Block, Amazon Web Services announced the launch of "Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments," partnering with Coinbase and Stripe to provide AI agents with the ability to execute transactions using stablecoins. Developers can use Coinbase's x402 protocol and Stripe-supported infrastructure to enable AI agents to make micro-payments using USDC for accessing web content, APIs, MCP services, and other agents. AWS stated that this is the first custodial payment capability designed specifically for autonomous agents, supporting funding of Coinbase or Stripe wallets in either stablecoins or fiat currency. The article states that as the "agentic economy" advances, low-cost, programmable on-chain stablecoins are becoming a key payment channel.
