Nvidia's Jensen Huang stated that China should not have access to the most advanced chips, but the US should allow it to compete in China.

PANews reported on May 5th, citing Nikkei Asia, that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that China "should not have" the most advanced chips, but the US should allow Nvidia to compete in the Chinese market. He believes that restricting Nvidia's chip exports to China is tantamount to ceding the Chinese market to domestic technology companies.

Jensen Huang stated that US export controls have reduced Nvidia's market share in China's AI accelerator market to zero, while Chinese technology is maturing and may compete with US companies globally. He argued that if the US wants to maintain its lead in AI, it should allow global developers to build on US technology stacks, rather than abandoning important markets by restricting exports.

He also pointed out that China has a large number of AI researchers and developers, and if American companies cannot participate, China's domestic chip and software ecosystem will have room for development. Previously, the US imposed export restrictions on AI chips such as Nvidia's H2O series, which were targeted at the Chinese market, putting pressure on Nvidia's related businesses.
