PANews reported on April 5 that Cointelegraph cited local media reports that the Third Trial Chamber of the Brazilian High Court unanimously authorized judges to send letters to cryptocurrency brokers, informing them of their intention to seize account holders' assets to repay creditors. "Although crypto assets are not legal tender, they can be used as a means of payment and a means of storing value." Under existing regulations, if Brazilian judges rule that creditors owe money, they have the right to freeze bank accounts and order the withdrawal of funds, even without the debtor's knowledge. According to the recent decision, crypto assets now fall under the same jurisdiction.
