PANews reported on October 27 that according to HK01, a virtual currency fraud case occurred in Tai Kok Tsui, Hong Kong. At about 4 pm on the 26th, the police received a report from a woman who said that she went to a virtual currency exchange (OTC) on the ground floor of 55 Tai Kok Tsui Road at about 1 pm and wanted to exchange Tether (USDT) for cash. After transferring the money to a male employee through an online wallet, the other party asked the victim to wait for his colleague to arrive with cash, and he left on the pretext of leaving. The female victim waited for a long time, but no one came, so she called the police for help. The police classified the case as "fraud" and have not arrested anyone yet. It is reported that the female victim lost 12,000 Tethers, equivalent to a total value of about HK$93,000. The woman said that she started to pay attention to the store from the social media Instagram in August. It seemed that the store had been in business for several months, and the other party also showed that there were customers trading, so she thought the store was credible.
