PANews reported on April 23 that according to Sing Tao Daily, the Hong Kong police conducted a Hong Kong-wide law enforcement operation codenamed "Attack" from April 7 to April 17 for 11 consecutive days targeting fraud, cybercrime and money laundering. A total of 503 people were arrested, involving 404 fraud cases and technology crimes, involving a total of 1.56 billion yuan. During the operation, the police smashed a fraud center located in a unit of an industrial building in Tsuen Wan and arrested 11 people, some of whom had triad backgrounds. The group members used online dating platforms to set up characters as "young and beautiful" and "successful in their careers" women, and used "talking skills" and "artificial intelligence face-changing technology" to induce victims to open online stores on fake e-commerce platforms to start businesses, and forged online store traffic and third-party orders, requiring victims to recharge the online stores with virtual currency.
