PANews reported on November 6 that according to The Block, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren defeated Republican candidate and cryptocurrency supporter John Deaton in the Massachusetts Senate election and was re-elected. This marks Warren's fourth Senate term, and she serves on the Senate Finance Committee and the Banking Committee, which oversees the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Warren has long been critical of the crypto industry and has led an anti-money laundering bill that seeks to extend the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act to crypto industry participants such as miners, validators, and wallet providers. Deaton received support from some crypto industry leaders during the campaign, including Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, who publicly expressed his support for Deaton at DC Fintech Week in Washington.
